Then the whole surface of the metal tank starts deteriorating. Special chemicals and coats are applied inside the tank to prevent pitting corrosion. Similarly, different methods are applicable for protection from pitting corrosion. Cathodic protection and chemical coatings are some prevention methods in the industry. Chemical Corrosion with Perforations

If you are processing something that includes sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, and sulfuric acid, stainless steel can face corrosion earlier than you can expect. Then these chemicals can cause perforations like pitting corrosions. These perforation damages are slightly different from pitting holes, but they end up with a similar fate.

Evacuation of Harmful Gases
Never let your workers enter a production tank immediately, or they will have serious health problems. A production tank has many trapped gases, which are harmful for a human to breathe. Chemicals, fungi, and bacteria can lead to life-threatening gases inside a closed tank. To ensure the tank is safe to start maintenance, you need to evacuate all the gases with the help of a pump or machine. Then you should use gas detectors to sense if there are no molecules of harmful gas left.
Removal of Any Smoke Generating Machine
Never carry a smoke-generating machine inside a production tank when doing its maintenance. That machine will fill the tank with carbon molecules, and they will suppress the possibility of breathing inside the tank. Even if your workers are wearing masks, still, it will be a bad move to carry a machine that emits harmful gas. In addition, do not carry that machine near the entrance of the tank. Otherwise, the tank will suck the smoke from outside.
Safety Gadgets and Backup
Safety gadgets like oxygen masks, torches, whistles, and protective suits are mandatory for your workers. Those who have to enter the production tank need full safety from every possibility of an accident. In this modern era, you can equip them with a mic system to communicate better. They can call for backup or help as soon as they detect something harmful. There must be an air circulation system inside the tank as far as they work inside it. It will keep them safe from suffocation and heat trapped inside the tank.
